
Working within the basic framework of the Total Control Music System, the elements
of modern Bluegrass banjo playing are explored, along with specifics of performing
them. Specifics related to various styles of playing are also studied: Students will
learn correct right-hand technique, "rolls"and variations, how to build a basic bluegrass
style part for any song; licks, tricks & embellishments; advanced part construction;
back-up and up-the-neck playing. We will also study the three major Bluegrass banjo
styles (Scruggs, Reno, Keith) and learn how to play and create parts in each style.
Finally,
there will also be study of the music and styles of specific artists and/or
material of the student's choosing
