Working within the basic framework of the Total Control Music System, the elements
of modern Nashville pedal steel playing are explored, along with specifics of performing
them. Specifics related to various styles of playing such as Mooney style and Western
Swing style are also studied. Students will learn correct right-hand blocking technique,
speed picking, "chimes", correct bar and volume pedal technique, the use of the
floor pedals and knee levers. We will examine the copedents of many players
with an eye to which changes might be worth adding to the student's setup. In
addition, we'll examine the music and styles of specific artists and/or other material
of the student's choosing
